I was a good student, but I was never the best in class.
Obviously I could be counted out of any sports. Or artistic or musical,
no particular talent from which to brag. Nobody gave trophies to readers of books. after
eighteen years of mediocrity, I ended up getting very good at being ordinary. Now I could
realized that I had long given up claims to shine at something. I just
did the best with what I had, I never adjusting to my world.
So this was different. I was amazing now - to them and to myself. It was as if I was born to be a vampire. The idea made me want to laugh but also made me want to sing. I
had found my true place in the world, a place where I fit, a place
where I shone.
